Rattlesnake Choir was hatched in 2006 when Toronto music veterans John Borra (A Neon Rome, Change Of Heart, Groovy Religion), Sam Ferrara (The Ugly, Viletones, Screamin' Sam) and Tony Benattar (Cameron Family, Backstabbers) saw a chance to present John's songs in a rock & roll combo using only acoustic instruments. Miranda Mulholland (The Mahones, Roaring Girl Cabaret, Bowfire) and Michael Boguski (Blue Rodeo, The Beauties) round out the group.
Their debut record "Live Music" was recorded live off the floor to ½" 2-track tape at Pucks Farm by Walter Sobczak and was released in 2008.
Since then Rattlesnake Choir has had the pleasure of playing shows with Blue Rodeo, Broken Social Scene and Lee Harvey Osmond as well as taping an episode of The Dakota Sessions for CMT.
Rattlesnake Choir can be found every Monday rocking the fabulous Dakota Tavern in downtown Toronto.
"these guys can propel a room full of roots enthusiasts. Expect down-home melodies, unusual percussion (everything from the slinky to the singing saw), and the occasional hoedown. It all goes down today, and every Monday, at the Dakota."

"The sparse feel keeps the emphasis on Borra's convincingly earthy vocals and songs, and the recording process (live to two-track and tape) adds to the warm and intimate ambience… Such song selections show their heart is in the right place, and Borra's own writing is equally strong. This is a disc worthy of exposure beyond the Toronto roots scene."
