After almost a year and a half the Rattlesnake Choir will wrap up their weekly Wednesday night at The Paddock (178 Bathurst St.) on October 31. Thanks to the fabulous Paddock staff and all the good folks that came out to see us there.

Watch for other gigs around town and a new record out before the end of the year.

August 26 - Jambo 8 - Ward's Island

J.B. Joins the Cameron Family Singers, Swamperella, The Rizdales, Ancient Chinese Secret and Joanne Mackell and the Paradise Rangers at the 8th annual Ward's Island Country Jamboree. Show starts at 3:00pm.

June 16 - Night Of The Living Ned 2 at The Horseshoe Tavern

On Saturday June 16 come celebrate 50 years of Handsome Ned.

Handsome Ned Masyk (1957-87) was the Godfather of Toronto's Honky Tonk/Rockabilly/Cow-Punk scene in the 1980's. Known for his strong tenor voice, songwriting chops, larger-than-life personality and tireless promotion, Ned established a residency at the Cameron House which attracted a mix of hayseeds, urban cowboys, rockabillies, drunks, punks, bikers, truckers and college students
building a crossover audience for the scene.

To celebrate Ned's 50th  birthday in June 2007, there will be a music tribute night at the Horseshoe Club in Toronto featuring performances by a cast of thousands including: Steve Koch, John Borra, Cleave Anderson, Johnny Macleod, Jim Masyk, Steve Leckie, Screamin' Sam, Tony Kenny (of the Razorbacks), Teddy Fury, Lori Yates, Emily Weedon, Heather Morgan, Michael Brennon, Mary Margaret O'Hara, Scott B, Joanne Mackell & some surprise guests.

April 28 Rattlesnake Choir open for Tarbox Ramblers

Rattlesnake Choir will join Tim Gibbons and Boston’s Tarbox Ramblers at Jeff Healey’s Roadhouse (56 Blue Jays Way) on Saturday April 28. Advance tickets available at Sam The Record Man, Rotate This and Circus Books and Music. Doors at 9:00pm

J.B. Dj’s at The Finn – Thursday’s 10:00 - close

John Borra will be spinning the best of Vintage Punk, Classic Country, Old Soul, Louisiana Music, Glam, Funk, Canadiana and so much more at The Finn, 971 College St. every Thursday starting in January 2007.

The Finn is a newly opened neighborhood bar with a friendly staff and a great ambiance.

October 20, 2006 – ViletonesLee’s Palace

J.B.
and Cleave have been playing with seminal Toronto punk band the Viletones. The 2006 line-up also includes Kurt Schefter (Raving Mojos, Alanna Miles) and of course original front man Steven Leckie.

The set list draws from the bands earliest material, primitive, first wave punk rock.

Viletones play at Lee’s Palace on Friday October 20, 2006 with The Blue Demons and Sadie May Crash.

June 28 – Rattlesnake Choir-Wednesday’s at The Paddock

Rattlesnake Choir featuring Tony Benattar (upright bass, dorbro), Treasa Levasseur (piano, accordion, vocals), Sam Ferrara (cheese grater, slinky, saw) and John Borra (vocals, guitar, harmonica) begin a weekly residency at The Paddock (178 Bathurst at Queen).

Starting June 28 the Rattlesnakes will play every Wednesday from 9:00 – 12:00. Admission is free.

The Paddock is a warm, friendly place serving great food and a fine selection of beers and cocktails.

May 10 – Rattlesnake Choir Debuts at The Paddock

Expanding on the success of their Sunday Revival residency at The Communist’s Daughter, John Borra and Sam Ferrara have recruited some friends for a new group called Rattlesnake Choir. Joining Sam & J.B. are Tony Benattar on upright bass and dorbro and Treasa Levasseur on piano, accordion and harmony vocals.

The new group makes its debut this Wednesday May 10 at The Paddock (178 Bathurst St.) from 9pm – 12am. The bar will close for a few weeks after that to renovate but the Rattlesnake Choir will return for a weekly Wednesday night in late May or early June.

The Paddock is a warm, friendly place serving great food and a fine selection of beers and cocktails.

May 06 – Guy Terrifico plays Lee’s Palace

To celebrate the DVD release of “The Life and Hard Times of Guy Terrifico” there will be a concert at Lee’s Palace on May 06, 2006. The band will be playing songs from the film and will feature Matt Murphy (Flashing Lights and star of the film) on Vocals and Guitar, Chris Murphy (Sloan) on Drums, Bob Egan (Blue Rodeo) on Pedal Steel, Bob Packwood (Blue Rodeo) on Piano and John Borra on Bass. Matt wrote the original music for the film and most of the band played on the soundtrack.

March 18 & 19, 2006 – Work Resume's On New Record

John Borra Band head back into Puck’s Farm to resume work on their new album. The band is very pleased with what they have so far and look forward to recording the next batch of songs. The record should be released in the fall of 2006.

March 24, 2006 – The Fiftymen Are Coming

The fabulous Fiftymen from Ottawa, Ontario will join the John Borra Band for a night of “roots rock & roll” at The Cadillac Lounge on Friday March 24. The J.B. Band were guests of the Fiftymen this past New Years Eve at Barrymores in Ottawa and the Fiftymen could not have been better hosts. Come on down to the show and help show them some that Southern Ontario hospitlity.

February 19, 2006 - Communist's Daughter Recording

Johnny and Sam will be documenting thier Sunday show at The Communist's Daughter on February 19, 2006. Local sound luminary Al Miller will be doing the recording and if all goes well they will release something in the near future. Come on down and be a part of it.

January 21, 2006 - J.B. Band Begins New Record

John Borra Band went into the studio at Puck's Farm to begin work on their new record. The band recorded nine tracks live off the floor and are very pleased with the results. They will go back in a month to record more songs, add some other instrumentation and hope for a spring release.
